Beach and Exercise

South Florida Beaches are some of the best in the country!

If getting into shape and losing some of that extra weight has seemed impossible, maybe you need a better plan–one that you can actually DO!

So often, we think we have to go to extremes to achieve our fitness and weight loss goals. Remember the popular saying, “no pain, no gain”?

Well, here’s some good news. You can feel and look better in your bathing suit this summer by following a practical and doable plan.

From new ideas about dieting (like NOT doing it every single day) to adding just a bit more time to your regular exercise sessions, these are ideas you can easily integrate into your lifestyle. There’s even a tip about  utilizing your bathroom mirror for more than checking your “look”!  You can be ready to hit our South Florida beaches and pools just in time for summer and feel a whole lot better about how you look and feel!

#1 Don’t Diet Every Day

Instead of sticking to a low-calorie diet every day, try mixing it up by alternating your calorie intake every two days. Research shows that doing this can actually help boost your metabolism! Restrict your calorie intake for two days, and each third day eat “normally”.

#2 Start Strength Training

Almost most women think of weight training as a way to pack on muscle, incorporating strength training into your workouts can help you burn more calories and build the muscle needed to create that toned, tight look. Start each exercise with a heavier weight that you are able to perform only 10-12 times before exhausting the muscle. Then, once you can’t do another rep, drop once to a lighter weight and continue until exhaustion. Do this 2-3 times per exercise.

#3 Limit Sugar and Sodium Intake

Eating simple carbs like sugar cause your body’s blood sugar to spike. By limiting sugar intake you can avoid storing those pesky carbs as fat and burn them slowly throughout the day for energy. Eating low-glycemic carbs like oatmeal, sweet potatoes and whole grains will help you trim down and burn body fat.

In addition, reducing your sodium intake can help your body avoid storing excess water that creates that bloated, full look.

Enjoy the great lifestyle we have every day in Florida! You DESERVE to feel and look your best. Do it for YOU!
