CARING PRESENCE

By Ann Patrice Casale

The hope is palpable
The smile quick
As I enter her world
And seek her trust
A promise is made

Struggles unfold
As listening prevails
Knowing dissects
To discover the truth
Of her intimate affliction

Tormented soul
Please rest your mind
Caring transcends
To temper the fear
And power the spirit

Sweet reciprocity
With your humble intent
You nurture those
Who empower the other
To create the moment

Listen nurse
And answer the call
For when you do
Cocoons transform
And butterflies emerge

ABSTRACT:
In my practice as a nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health, I share in meaningful experiences with those seeking my care. Women’s health is, by nature, an intimate experience, with personalized caring being sought by each woman in my care. My commitment to foster purposeful caring is expressed in my responses to the patient’s troubled heart and her desire for hope and empowerment. Both nurse and patient reap rewards in mutual reciprocity, with the patient’s perceptions being transformed from a state of isolation to freedom and enlightenment.
